Welcome to the New Coachfederation.org

Posted by Magdalena Nowicka Mook | December 9, 2017 | Comments (20)

Welcome to the new coachfederation.org! We’re excited for you to experience all this site has to offer. As you look around, you will notice a cleaner, more intuitive design than our previous site. During the planning phase, we put a lot of consideration into the reasons why you may visit our website. Thus, we’ve divided much of our content into the following main navigation items:

  • Why ICF: For potential ICF Members
  • ICF Credential: Contains all relevant information you need to obtain or renew your ICF Credential
  • Find a Coach: For individuals and organizations who want to work with an ICF coach
  • Research: Find our industry research, access the ICF Research Portal and tap into our research panel
  • Accredit a Program: Visit this section to learn how to get your coach-specific training program accredited by ICF
  • Events: Find professional development and networking opportunities

The search bar at the top will also help get you to where you want to be.

In addition to better navigation, I’d like to share some other highlights with you.

Member Portal

ICF Members will now be able to edit their member profile, read member news and access the Member Toolkit all from one place. We’re excited to introduce the Member Portal. While logged in, members can also take advantage of ICF’s Archived Learning and connect to Peer Coaching opportunities for ongoing learning and development.

Chapter Map

Our sense of community is one of the things that we are especially proud of at ICF, but with more than 130 local chapters around the world, it can be difficult to find the one you’re looking for. Our improved Chapter Map makes it easier than ever to do so. Simply type your address into the search bar, and the closest chapter(s) will pop up with a location and website link.

A More Dynamic Coaching World

As part of our website redesign, we have merged Coaching World (our quarterly, digital magazine) and the ICF Blog into a single entity—a dynamic online resource that better meets the needs of our global coaching community. You can still expect the same quality content generated by your peers/colleagues as you did from the previous formats, and we encourage you to propose an article.

The new CW is easy to search, allowing you to sort content by category, author name and date of publication. You can also explore content via the set of recommended content at the bottom of each article.

Language Option

Our previous website allowed users the option to view content in three languages. As a global organization, it was important that we expanded the number of choices with our new website. Our content is now accessible in more than 100 different languages via a Google translate feature. (Due to this automatic functionality, please be aware that it may not be a perfect translation.) To change the language selection, scroll to the footer of the website and choose your desired language from the drop-down “Select Language” box.

I invite you to take some time to explore our website and these highlights, in addition to all the other resources we have to offer. Thank you for visiting!

Magda and the global board, overall the new website looks excellent. As an ICF member that has been highly critical of Associations International, I want to offer genuine “kudos” to the team that worked to pull it off. It’s really important that as a global community, the web presence remains relevant and easy to use for key audiences. Congrats to the team that brought this improvement to life!

I want to challenge the ICF Global Board and Associations International in two specific areas related to promotion:

    1. Video. Previously ICF had an active YouTube channel and in the past few years, the channel has went fairly dormant. Video is really important for our global community to reach next generation consumers of coaching and I’d like to challenge your team to focus on this important media.

    2. Find A Coach: Creating demand for coaching must be a focus of attention for Associations International. As much as ICF promotes membership to potential members, we need to promote an EQUAL investment in promoting coaching to consumers and companies to hire coach. Our community does a significant disservice by just promoting membership and then doing very little to create demand for ICF members. The global survey is interesting — but it does very little to create demand for coaching. As someone who’s been a member for many years, this is a huge gap that needs significant attention.

    With all my best,
    Chris Padgett, PCC, CPCC

    Hi Chris,

Thank you for your comment about the Web site. Lots of planning, trying, testing and tweaking went into the final products. I will share your message with the team, I know they will appreciate that.

And also thank you for the other two observations with creating a market for coaches and creating a much more robust video channel. We are working on both and it is always good to hear that it will respond to the members’ needs.

    All the best,
    Magda N. Mook

  3. Magda and Team:

The new website is terrific. I find it to be very inviting, easy to navigate, providing valuable content. Thank you!

    Hi Magda!

Congratulations on the new website. No doubt, this took a lot of effort from many people. The short term pain for me is finding where everything is now. And also that I link a lot of pages on my members-only website area, to specific pages on ICF website for my mentor coaching clients. Now I have to go through every link in my members-only pages and find the new link and change.

I have a challenge reading this light gray typeface color. For me, this light color also has the effect of being ‘light weight’ and not as grounded as a darker gray would be. I wonder what the reasoning is for this lighter typeface color? It may be modern, yet not as impactful, at least for me.

All my best to you, Carly

    • Magdalena N. Mook says:

      Hello Carly,

Thank you for your well wishes and your feedback. We worked closely with, and trusted the expertise of, a web design and development team that has experience in working with membership associations. In the coming months, a randomly selected representative sample of ICF Members will be surveyed regarding their experiences with the website. We highly value feedback from members like you, and we look forward to using these results to inform any future choices or changes.

      All the best,

      Magda N. Mook

    • flynnyvonne@ymail.com says:

Hi there, I would like to agree with Carly’s comments about the lighter colour typeface. Hopefully this aspect of the new design (which is a great improvement in lots of ways!) will be included in the member survey.

      Regards
      Yvonne

      • Magdalena N. Mook says:

        Hello Yvonne,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re happy to hear that you find it an improvement in many ways. The survey will cover a wide array of user experience aspects, and we look forward to using the results for any potential future changes to the website.

        All the best,

        Magda N. Mook

  5. Cheryl Smith says:

Hello and congratulations. This is indeed a great success. You have every reason to be proud of this new website.

However, the light grey is too light for my eyes and I’m finding myself squinting to focus. Any chance you can go a share darker?

    thanks for your consideration,
    Cheryl

    • Cheryl Smith says:

      oops, pressed submit too soon

      make that a “shade” darker…

      • Magdalena N. Mook says:

        Hello Cheryl,

Thank you! Our team put a lot of thought and effort into planning and preparing this new website, and we are indeed proud of the result. We appreciate your comment about the font color. In the coming months, a randomly selected representative sample of ICF Members will be surveyed regarding their experiences with the website. We look forward to using these results to help us make any informed choices or changes in the future.

        All the best,

        Magda N. Mook

  6. jane@takethenextstepcct.com says:

    Hello!
New website is easier to navigate and find information much quicker. My one “push back” is the color of the gray font. Too light. Not enough contrast to quick read. It is not as helpful in current shading as it could be. I request the gray font be made darker by a couple of shades. That would indeed make the the new website superb!

    Thank you for your consideration.

  7. joseph@theyoutomorrow.com says:

This new website is terrific. It looks “clean” and has a logical progression to it. I like the colours and the care taken to answer expected questions without us having to hunt for it. What seems to have changed though is the possibility of us offering our own articles for the blog as before? All in all this is brilliant.

    God bless you Magda.

  8. Janice Learmond-Criqui, ACC, CPC says:

Love the fresh modern look of the website. I do agree with comments re text is too light and I only make this statement because I am over 50yrs.

    Keep up the great work.

  9. Grace Thoomas says:

Hi Magda and the web team

I have been quite frustrated at the grey text colour which makes it really difficult to read even with my spectacles on. There has been enough of feedback just on this page to warrant a change, I think. For someone who uses the site to guide potential members and credentialed coaches, a change would be most appreciated.

    Thank you
    Grace

    • Lisa Cunningham says:
