The ICF Young Leader Award celebrates coach practitioners under the age of 40 who are poised to lead ICF and the coaching profession into the future. Honorees embody the core values of ICF and represent a diverse community of emerging thought leaders. This year, ICF celebrated the first class of Young Leader Award honorees during the 2018 ICF Midwest Region Coaches Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. In the coming weeks, we will profile each of this year’s honorees here on Coaching World.

Rodrigo Acevedo, ACC (Uruguay), helps clients achieve more growth-oriented experiences and enhance their lives. He’s been an ICF Member since 2012 and is currently serving as ICF Uruguay’s Vice President.

“My favorite part of coaching is when I open the space for clients to express themselves however they see fit through the power of silence. It’s in those moments between the space of answers and follow up questions that often triggers the most powerful breakthroughs,” he said.

Rodrigo says his main inspiration for coaching comes from the idea that change is always available to us. He’s always been passionate about the nature of change and how can it be achieved.

“I see the coaching profession as a way to reach far more people than the clients I can personally manage. It is a great conduit to create compounding ripples of improvement for all. This is what inspires me to keep on co-creating a more growth-oriented world through coaching,” he said.

Rodrigo’s vision for ICF is that in the next 10–20 years it will become the primary source of worldwide information on coaching. Rodrigo says he wants it to become “the Google of coaching.” As a young leader, Rodrigo hopes to help ICF have a stronger presence in the market.

“To be of service to other young practitioners, to lead by example by showing that no matter how young you are, you can still be a great coach and contribute to the coaching community, as long as you commit to excellence, have perseverance and develop unbinding curiosity for our fellow clients,” Rodrigo said of his role as a Young Leader Award honoree.
